New country. New language. No network. Starting over takes more than a change of address.

Picture yourself landing in a new country—strange language on the signs, unfamiliar faces at every turn, and the exhilarating uncertainty of starting from scratch. One of the biggest challenges? It takes time to build a network you can trust when you’re new somewhere. Every introduction, recommendation, and arrangement involves trial and error—sometimes at the cost of time, money, and a few inevitable disappointments. For those bold enough to embrace it, moving abroad isn’t just a logistical challenge; it’s a journey of reinvention.

Each day, you’re forced to adapt, connect, and discover what it truly means to belong somewhere else. This learning goes far beyond paperwork and packing lists. It’s about finding your rhythm in a world that doesn’t yet feel like yours, and in doing so, building a unique kind of wisdom that only comes from living life across borders. That’s where a lifestyle manager can be invaluable, saving you precious resources and smoothing the path to a new beginning.

Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all

For Marika Poveromo, who left Italy in 2011 and has moved several times across continents—from the USA to Australia—before settling in Dubai, that became the blueprint for WE Concierge—an agency shaped by firsthand experience, empathy, and a commitment to her client’s best interest. Marika’s work weaves together every thread a global life demands: relocation support and business setup, plus seamless lifestyles through events, yacht charters, and bespoke travel experiences.

The connection between these areas is clear. A move abroad rarely involves just a home or a career. It changes the rhythm of life and nearly every part of it. Having someone who understands how those pieces fit together can make an unfamiliar place feel more accessible. We sat down with Marika  to discuss navigating life across borders from her perspective.

You left Italy in 2011 and have lived in six countries. How has that experience shaped the person you are today?

Living abroad keeps you learning. What feels obvious in one country may be approached very differently in another, and you have to get comfortable asking questions and listening. Each move can change how you see work, relationships, and what you want from life.

For me, the connection between personal and professional growth is central to this story. I want people to understand the person behind WE Concierge, including my experience adapting to different environments and building a path outside the place where I grew up.

What do you think people underestimate about starting a new life abroad?

It is easy to concentrate on the move itself and give less attention to the life that follows. Beyond the initial arrangements, you need to understand how your days will work, what support you will need, and whether the place suits your priorities.

I would encourage anyone considering a move to think about their expectations as carefully as their practical requirements. A useful starting point is to ask what they hope will change, and what they want to preserve.

Relocation and business setup are central to your work. Why does it help to consider them together?

For someone moving with entrepreneurial plans, the business and personal decisions are closely connected. Where they intend to live, how they want to work, and the lifestyle they are seeking all belong in the conversation.

The purpose of support is to help give those decisions a clearer structure. First, understand the person’s circumstances and priorities; next, identify what needs attention and the expertise required.

How does online consulting fit into that process?

An online conversation gives people an opportunity to explore their plans before they travel or commit to a move. It can help them organize their questions, explain their circumstances, preferences, and requirements, and identify where they need further guidance and support.

It is also a practical format for people whose lives already involve more than one country. They can start the conversation wherever they are, so they can approach the next stage with greater clarity.

Lifestyle management is a broad term. What would you like readers to understand about it?

I see it as support that considers the individual’s wider life. People may need help with a particular arrangement, but that request often sits within a fuller picture of work, family commitments, finding the right area and home, travel, and personal preferences.

A consistent point of contact means the conversation doesn't have to start from scratch every time. The aim is to understand what matters to the client and help coordinate the relevant arrangements.

Your work also includes events, yacht charters, and travel concierge. What makes an experience feel personal?

It starts with understanding why someone wants the experience and who will be sharing it. A business gathering has a different purpose from a private celebration, and a holiday means different things to different people.

For a yacht charter, for example, I would want the conversation to go beyond the yacht itself: the occasion, the atmosphere, and how guests hope to spend their time all matter. Those details guide the planning.

How has living among different cultures influenced the way you work with people?

It has made me more conscious of how much we can assume without realizing it. People communicate, make decisions, and express what they need in different ways. Taking time to understand those differences can change the quality of a working relationship.

I want clients to feel comfortable explaining their priorities. A thoughtful question at the beginning can be more useful than quickly assuming what someone will enjoy or need.

What would you like people to understand about your professional approach?

That everything at WE Concierge begins with a conversation. Whether someone is considering a move abroad, setting up a business, or planning a trip or an event, we start by understanding what matters to them. From there, we offer a single point of contact to help bring the different pieces together.

Services may vary, but the starting point is always the person: where they are in life, what they want to achieve, and where they need support. It all begins with a single conversation. Whether you’re dreaming of a new home, launching a business, or simply seeking memorable experiences, the journey forward is shaped by individual stories and aspirations. The promise is simple: you don’t have to navigate it alone. Whatever your next chapter holds, support is just a conversation away—ready to bring the pieces together, so you can focus on what matters most.
